Brooklyn's Super Yamba Band comprises a unique blend of inspiration born of 70s/80s West-African Afrobeat and Psychedelic Funk, with a live energy that moves everyone in the room to dance. The band formed in 2014 and quickly made a name for themselves performing in clubs in Harlem and hosting their own DIY dance parties at a loft space in Brooklyn. In 2017 Super Yamba formed a collaboration with Afrobeat legend Leon Ligan-Majek better known as Kaleta. The longtime guitarist for Fela Kuti and King Sunny Ade hit it off right away with the members of Super Yamba after being struck by their compositions that were influenced by the music he grew up on in Benin and Nigeria.
